Mu Theta Chapter Ensembles
As our chapter grows, we are forming more ensembles each year. These ensembles are organized by students in the Mu Theta Chapter! Thanks to the diverse talents and instrumentation of our chapter, members get to perform in unique ensembles and learn various chamber music skills. Here are some of our active ensembles as well as ones from previous years!
Mu Theta Chorus
Every year, our active members sing altogether for our Spring Recital. The Mu Theta Chorus acts as a secondary ensemble for the majority of our chapter who are instrumentalists. During the spring semester, tour chorister teaches our Membership Candidates vocal techniques and helps them learn about our chapter’s culture. The chorus performs once a semester and is the Mu Theta Chapter's largest ensemble.
Mu Theta Clarinet Ensemble
For the 2016-2017 school year, members Chanse Morris, Joshua Barker, Moises Correa, Donald Hale, and Natalie Miller formed the Mu Theta Clarinet Quartet. During the school year, the quartet performed Christmas selections and new works and arrangements by UT student composers. The Mu Theta Clarinet Quartet has performed in the UT Student Activities Center, the Austin Retirement and Nursing Home, and the Butler School of Music.
New Active Members Ensemble (NAME)
This ensemble is composed by our new active membership class initiated before our annual Spring Recital. Each year the group composes or arranges a work for the ensemble to premiere at the Spring Recital. Pictured to the left is the membership class OPUS (2016-2017) premiering "Planetarium" arranged by Jake Wohleb.
Mu Theta Brass Quintet
Each year we showcase some of our best brass players in our chapter through the Mu Theta Brass Quintet. This ensemble performs many different musical genres and showcases arrangements by members in our chapter.
